Reconstruction of the debris-flow frequency at Reuse de Saleinaz, Val Ferret (Valais)

This study aims at reconstructing the frequency of past debris flows on the cone of the Reuse de Saleinaz torrent in Val Ferret (Valais, Switzerland) with dendrogeomorphological methods. Through the analysis of trees disturbed during particular event, the study also allows identification of spatial patterns of past events. In a subsequent step, data on past events will be compared to dendrogeomorphological results obtained for past debris flows at the Torrent de la Fouly as well as to archival data from the entire Val Ferret.

Reconstructions for the Reuse de Saleinaz show 39 event years going as far back as to A.D. 1743. For the Torrent de la Fouly, 39 event years between 1862 and 2002 could be assessed.
