Tree damage and mortality of trees after rockfall tests (Vaujany, France)

A considerable number of conifer and broadleaved trees were damaged during experimental rockfall on a slope at Vaujany near Grenoble (Savoye, France) over the last four years. Within this project, the severity of damage and its influence on the mortality are assessed with tree-ring analysis. In addition, the process of wound closure will be quantified as well as the propagation of decay in the trunks analyzed.
